Role Summary

The main purpose of the role will be to conduct CFD investigations.


Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing CFD results comparing to experimental and track data

  • Accessing and manipulating CFD models

  • Prompt resolution of CFD issues

  • Request and define new software from the CFD tools department

  • Project scoping , delegation and reviewing

  • Continuous and balanced improvement between CFD throughput and quality

  • Develop new CFD methodology tools

  • Record, track and resolve CFD issues

  • Maintain CFD Wiki knowledge base, including support documents, best practice and training material

  • Maintain good connections with software suppliers, reporting bugs and requesting enhancements

  • Validation and release of CFD solver and post-processor scripts

  • Validation and release of  Boundary Condition files

  • Application of new CFD software/techniques available on the market

  • Detailed Analysis and reporting of results

  • Provide mentoring and support to Junior CFD Engineers and Aerodynamicists

  • To propose design solutions for Non-Aerodynamic CFD projects


Target Profile

  • Proficient with Linux based applications and environment, Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

  • Proven experience of problem solving, working accurately & methodically, often under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • 2+ years of professional CFD experience within F1 or motorsport industry

  • Professional experience using OpenFOAM

  • Scripting and automating engineering processes

  • Programming experience in Python, C++ and/or Visual Basic

  • Strong mathematical background, especially with statistical analysis.
