Purpose:

As a junior member of the Software Development group, you will be part of an agile SCRUM team dedicated to providing tools and services to the wider business, including Race and Performance Engineering, Vehicle Science, Marketing, Operations and others. You will work on some of the most advanced bespoke software products currently under development in the industry, using the latest technology stacks, cloud infrastructure and development environments.

Relationships:

During your working time you will be interacting with a number of internal product owners, external suppliers and technology partners.

  • Product Owners/Subject Matter Experts across the business
  • Cloud Infrastructure Partners/Suppliers
  • Vehicle Sensor Data suppliers
  • Technology vendors providing tools and components
  • Track-side engineering group when in assignment

Main Tasks &

Responsibilities

As a junior software developer within a team that uses SCRUM agile methodology, you are expected to actively participate in the application lifecycle, sizing and estimation of stories and working through the tasks for each story you take ownership of within a sprint cycle.

You will participate in the design sessions with the rest of the team, and you will be expected to invent, create, simplify processes and tools and challenge the status quo if you genuinely believe that there is a better way to do things.

  • Deliver across the entire app life cycle – concept, design, build, deploy, validate, release to target environments
  • Working directly with other developers and product owners to help conceptualise, build, test and realise products
  • Help build prototypes at the scoping stage of projects to ascertain the most appropriate technology to use
  • Keep up to date on the latest industry trends in software development and F1 technologies

Essential Skills:

  • Object Orientation, Separation of Concerns and CAP theorem
  • Knowledge of client-side JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, React or similar) and tools (grunt, gulp, require…)
  • Some back-end experience: C#, ASP.Net WebAPI2, Nodejs
  • A mind for troubleshooting and debugging
  • A good knowledge of Git
  • User of Visual Studio 2015, 15vNext (older might also do…)
  • Willing to learn new stuff: F#, R, Scala, whatever it takes…

Nice to Haves:

  • A passion for Data Science and Visualisation
  • Experience on Big Data (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka…)
  • Experience on Visualisation (Tableau, Chart.io…)
  • Expert on Cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, Google…)
  • A great design eye, UI craftsmanship
  • User Centred Design proponent. UX focus
